Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 7 am–8 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (805) 882-0137. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, hotelcalifornian.com.

Its Google rating is 4.0 out of 5 from 623 reviews, a solid but mixed picture; reading the most recent reviews will tell you what to expect.

Santa Barbara is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Santa Barbara is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Had a great breakfast here it was extremely busy but the breakfast and coffee hit the spot. Our server Robin did a great job, they were understaffed so there was a little bit of a wait but food was good customer service was great & cute environment with both indoor and outdoor seating.

Great salads. Can recommend the spinach with walnuts and raisins and goat cheese with grilled salmon added. Fantastic desserts. Lovely dining area both inside and out.

#latereview It was my first time in Santa Barbara and I came here for a solo birthday trip. Was looking for restaurants for a birthday breakfast and I came across The Goat Tree. I always love old school with a modern twist type of breakfast and could not wait to dine with them. Service is amazing so was my server (forgot his name). He was thoughtful all throughout and answered my questions and recommended something from the menu. Overall Experience: AMAZING❤️ Would definitely dine here again. Servers are very knowledgable and can answer if you have questions about the menu and can recommend something from it according to your palette. I have yet to try the other items on their menu but over all so far I wont mind dining here again. Love it❤️ Food: I had the An Iconic Breakfast which had bacon, eggs, potatoes and toast with butter and jam. I was kinda skeptical when the plate came probably because I was kinda expecting it to be "iconic" hence the name. Honestly it felt flat for me but the item/plate itself was good. Sourdough tasted like it was made in house with the jar or jam and butter. I also had the Pain Au Chocolat which was very flaky and butter and it just crumbles down i

Goat Tree is easily one of the best spots in Santa Barbara. The food is amazingly prepared and incredibly fresh, honestly, no matter what you order, you know it’s going to be great. A few highlights from my visit, The Chai Latte: Absolutely a must try! It’s perfectly balanced and easily one of the best I’ve had. Atmosphere was absolutely great. The location is fantastic. Sitting in the outdoor seating area makes for such a great experience and really lets you soak in the Santa Barbara energy. If you’re looking for a consistent, high quality meal with a great view, this is the place. I’ll definitely be back!

Love that they are so dog friendly here! We just stopped in for cocktails with our pup and we had a lovely time. I can’t comment on the food but the food I saw coming out of the kitchen looked yummy. Example. The ladies sitting near me split a burger that looked great! The kitchen also split it for them in advance which is always a nice touch. The hostess was extremely friendly and attentive as well. We will happily return for drinks and hopefully food next time :)
